The Village of Shorewood Hills has partnered with Nixle to implement our Community Notification System. The Nixle system will replace the Village’s Blast Email Notifications on or about December 1, 2020. Nixle can provide alerts via email and text. If you would like to continue to get notifications from the Village you will need to sign up for Nixle.
The messages sent by the Village will fall into one of three categories:
- Alert = Emergency messages (i.e. evacuations, active shooter).
- Advisory = More routine messages, similar to most messages sent via our old Blast Email Notifications (i.e. water main breaks, power outages, Village Bulletin availability).
- Community = Less urgent messages (i.e. street closures, community event updates).
How to Sign Up for Nixle:
- Sign up via the Nixle website (https://local.nixle.com/register/). Create an account and password. You can also Manage Your Notifications when your registration is completed.
- On your cellphone, text the message VOSH to 888777. You will be signing up for text messages only at the Alert (emergency) and Advisory (routine) levels only. If that is all you want, then you’re done. You won't get anything via email or any Community level messages.
- Sign up via the Nixle Widget below. You can sign up for text and/or email alerts. If you choose this option, you will likely want to control your message priorities and delivery channels (see Managing Your Notifications below).
Managing Your Notifications:
If you signed up for Nixle with your cellphone or via the widget, you will need to Reset Your Password to login and manage your notifications. Go to https://local.nixle.com/accounts/password/reset/ and “reset” your password, which will in fact be creating a password for the first time.
