Spring Cleaning Dumpster Event
Time for Spring Cleaning!
The Village’s spring cleaning event is back this year! The Village is pleased to be hosting the dumpster event this Spring during the weekend of May 3, 4 and 5. On those days, the Village will have two 30-yard dumpsters available outside the Public Works garages (1008 Shorewood Blvd.). From 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, residents may bring items (not fit for donation or garage sales) that have been collecting over the years and discard them once and for all. A Public Works truck will be available for recyclable metal items.
Most things can go in the dumpsters or metal recycling truck. But, we CAN’T take everything. Certain materials are banned from landfills because of their toxicity. They require special disposal methods to prevent environmental damage. Some materials may not be toxic but are prohibited for other reasons (for example: to encourage recycling). The Dane County Clean Sweep program may take some prohibited material or the Village’s waste hauler, Pellitteri Waste Systems (257-4285), would be happy to discuss alternate methods of disposal of any of the items listed below.
Prohibited Materials:
- Appliances
- Asphalt Shingles
