Shorewood Hills is an established community that has long recognized the value of trees and their significance as an environmental, economic, and community asset. There is strong community support for trees and other green infrastructure as well as a solid commitment from village staff and officials to preserve and increase tree canopy and green space.

The trees, parks, and other green spaces which comprise the Community Forest contribute greatly to the quality of life in Shorewood Hills. These resources provide an opportunity for residents to interact with nature, relax, and provide recreational outlets in a way that enhance the Village’s sense of community. Residents view trees and the wooded character of the Village as one of the community’s greatest assets. A few of the many benefits of an urban forest include increased property value; reduced heating and cooling costs; air, light, and noise pollution reduction; stormwater retention and improved water quality; increased wildlife diversity and habitat.
