Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP)Update (2/23/24): The Village held the required public hearing on the draft Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) on January 29, 2024. At its February 11, 2024 meeting, the Recreation Committee unanimously recommended that the Board adopt the final draft of the CORP as presented that evening with a few minor edits as discussed. On February 20, 2024, the Board adopted the CORP as presented. CORP (Adopted) (adopted 2/20/2024) Our parks and open spaces are vital to community health, providing recreational, social, and environmental benefits. To maintain a high-quality public park and trail system, our 2021 Comprehensive Plan recommended that the Village develop a plan to study our parks and open spaces, guide facilities improvements, and establish grant eligibility. Shorewood Hills is now developing a Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, or CORP, to guide parks and recreation improvements over the next five years. The CORP will contain an inventory of existing recreation facilities, an analysis of outdoor recreation needs, and a list of projects to help address any unmet needs. CORPs are a required application component for many DNR grant programs and must be updated every five years. The Recreation Committee is leading the CORP planning process with support from the Parks Committee. The Village has contracted with Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC) to develop the plan. How can I participate?
