| The Breitenbach house at 1218 University Bay Drive was one of the first houses within what are now the village limits. This house was built by Jacob Breitenbach, an immigrant from Germany, in 1854-55 and has been modified several times since. The Breitenbachs operated extensive gardens and provided vegetables to the city of Madison. At the time this house was built, the city limits were miles away. |
