Founded in 1936. New members are always welcome. Purpose: "To encourage and foster the activity of gardening among all ages; to promote civic beautification within the Village; to aid in protecting native wild flowers & birds; and to otherwise nurture our environment."
Programs
& Activities: The Garden Club maintains over 20 public gardens at traffic
triangles throughout the Village, as well as several other public areas, including the swimming pool. The Club's commitment to nurture the environment has been enhanced by the Village decision to hire a full-time Forester / Horticulturist starting in 1999. The Club contributes to the salaries of summer horticultural assistants. The Club also supports the restoration and stewardship of many of our Village Parks and Woods.
Programs are scheduled throughout the year. The
programs include garden walks, hands-on workshops, a spring luncheon, and an
annual dinner. Guest speakers are featured whenever possible. Meeting times vary
to accommodate the entire membership. Fundraisers
include the spring cocoa mulch / plant sale, Election Day bake sales and fresh
cranberry sales. Proceeds are used to beautify the Village and to support
programs. Annual dues are collected from active and supporting members in the
spring. Donations from all Village residents are always welcome. |
