GARLIC MUSTARD DAY – 2008

When:  Sunday, May 18th, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Why:  Garlic Mustard is an invasive, noxious weed that must be eradicated from the Village!

How:  Village residents are encouraged to stop by one of the following locations between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm on May 18 to pick up clear plastic bags and receive education regarding the appearance and habitat of garlic mustard:

§        The Sundquists, 3215 Tally Ho Lane
§        The Redstens, 1022 Shorewood Boulevard
§        The Youngs, 2801 Colgate Road
§        The Millers, 930 Cornell Court
§        The Rikkers, 3510 Sunset Drive

The goal is to help remove garlic mustard from your own yards, the yards of your neighbors who might be unable to do it themselves and to remove it from our parks and other common areas, for instance Four Corners Park and the Quarry on Highbury.

A secondary goal of this 1st Annual event is to get outside, spend time with your neighbors and kick o ff summer.  To that end, starting about 4:00 pm, the Rikkers family will have a couple of grills lighted, plates, napkins, music and probably beer.  Everyone is welcome to join us (bring your own food to grill, a dish to pass, beer, etc.); however, you are strongly encouraged to set up events in your own neighborhoods!

We need everyone’s help to make Garlic Mustard Day 2008 a success.  Please call Tim Rikkers at 669-4153 or Corey George at 209-5763 with questions or to get involved.
