Shorewood Hills Police Department

TRAINING

The State of Wisconsin requires that Police Officers complete 24-hours of training per year in order to maintain their certification.  Shorewood Hills Police Officers complete 32-hours of "inservice" training each year, meeting four times yearly for eight hours.  Our department teams with several other agencies in Dane County to facilitate this training.  The training consortium consists of officers from Shorewood Hills, as well as the following agencies: UW-Madison Police Department, Cottage Grove Police Department, Monona Police Department, and the Cross Plains Police Department.

Each training session address different topics, such as firearms, DAAT (defense and arrest tactics), EVOC (emergency vehicle operation), vehicle contacts, legal updates and more.  Typically, the Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center is utilized for firearms and classroom sessions.  During the winter months, however, the indoor shooting range at MATC is used for firearms.

Below are photos from a recent training session focusing on firearms and emergency vehicle operation.  Click on the photos to enlarge them to their original size.
