Shorewood Hills Police Department
OUR PATCH

Our
shoulder patch, in service since 1995, is divided into four quadrants.
Each represents an aspect of our Village and Department.
- The
Oak leaf represents the wooded character of our glacier-formed topography.
-
The
sailboat symbolizes our northern border, the shore of Lake Mendota.
- The
American flag shows our respect for the laws that we must uphold, and the
Constitution we must defend. 1927
is the year the Village was incorporated, by combining the early 1920s
developments of Shorewood and College Hills.
- The
depiction of Blackhawk, a Native American Chief of the Sauk (Sac) tribe,
recognizes that his people, and other tribes as well, were the early
occupants of the land in and around our Village.
