Accident and Incident reports are available for release to appropriate parties during normal business hours. There is a $.50 per page charge.
Do I need to license my pets?
Yes, all dogs and cats over 5 months old must be licensed every year. Licenses can be obtained at Village Hall with proof of rabies vaccination and payment of the fee. Licenses run for the calendar year. The fees are $7.50 for spayed or neutered animals, and $15.00 for non-spayed for neutered. Licenses obtained after April 1 are subject to a $5.00 late fee.
How do I license my bicycle?
Licenses are required for every bicycle in the Village, and can be obtained at the Police Dept. The fee is $5.00 and the licenses are good until May 2008. Registration is not only the law, it also protects your investment. The license is often the only way we can locate an owner when we recover an abandoned bike.
Is it possible to ride with a Village Officer?
Yes, and the Police Department encourages Village residents to do so to get a better idea of what the Village Officers' duties entail. "Ride-alongs" can be arranged through the Chief or any Officer. A signed Liability Waiver is required before the ride-along occurs. Parental consent is required for juvenile ride-alongs.
Can I have my house checked when I go on vacation?
Yes. Residents going on vacation or otherwise leaving their homes unoccupied are encouraged to fill out a Security Check Report at Village Hall. The Police Department will make periodic exterior checks of your home. We encourage residents to give a key to a neighbor or friend so that the interior can be checked if the need arises. Police Officers will not enter residences without a keyholder present, even if a key is available at the fire station.
How do I pay a citation?
All citations can be paid in person at the Police Department during normal business hours, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Payments can also be mailed to the address above with the citation to ensure proper credit. Parking citations must be paid within 7 days of issuance to avoid additional charges. Traffic citations must be paid by the court date on the citation or the defendant must appear in court on that date. Failure to pay citations on time can result in additional costs, suspension of the violator's vehicle registration, or suspension of his or her driver's license.
