By parking your vehicles in the driveway, you will allow our Department of Public Works to get the street cleared of snow as soon as possible and keep the street accessible for our Emergency Vehicles.
If you cannot park your vehicles in the driveway, please consider parking on alternate sides of the street. This will allow a clear lane for Emergency Vehicles. And, allow our Department of Public Works to clean up the snow drifts on subsequent days.
The Village does not have alternate side parking regulations, but keep in mind that there is a 24 hour street storage limit in the Village. Your vehicle must be moved within 24 hours.
ASSIST
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BY CLEARING AROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD FIRE HYDRANT
Using the water we carry on our fire trucks, we have enough water to fight a fire for only 3½ minutes! If the fire hydrant closest to you is buried, we will have to abandon our fire attack to gain access to your hydrant. The five to six minutes it will take us to dig out your hydrant could mean the difference in saving or losing your home or even worse, the loss of a precious life!
Please adopt the fire hydrant closest to your home. Keep the area in front of the hydrant clear of snow to the road and an area at least three feet around the hydrant clear of snow. This will allow the Fire Department to quickly hook up hoses to the hydrant and operate the hydrant.
Clear the area around your fire hydrant
regularly as you clear your driveway. Your
efforts will keep you and your neighbors safer!
