Can a child in kindergarten join a team? Yes. Kindergarten leagues are formed in the spring of each year. Player and team registration is done directly through MAYSA. For more details, refer to the MAYSA web page, or call them at (608) 276-9030. How do I reserve a field for soccer practice? The soccer fields to the north and south
of the Shorewood Hills Elementary School can be reserved for soccer
practices. The fields are
reserved on a first come/first serve basis by contacting the Club
President, Fritz Grutzner. A new
reservation must be made in the spring and fall of each year.
Multiple teams may reserve the fields at the same times, so
cooperation between coaches is required. |

I need to reschedule a game. How do I know when the Shorewood Hills fields are available? Field use for the regular season is scheduled by MAYSA. Click here to view the current field schedule for the Fall 2004 / Spring 2005 seasons (in PDF format). For reschedule games, please first review the current field schedule, and then contact Fritz Grutzner to confirm that the date and time is still available. How are recreational roster openings filled? Do coaches get to choose their players? The coaches and team managers determine if there is space to add a new player. New players should be added on a first come / first serve basis. Players can be added to a team at any time during the year. The team manager should complete a player registration form for each new player, and submit that form to the Club Registrar. Click here to downloaded the Player Registration form (in PDF format). How much are the registration fees? What do the fees cover? Teams play a split season (8 games in the fall and 8 in the spring). The fees include the MAYSA registration fees and a $30 fee collected by the Shorewood Hills Club to pay for office expenses, equipment, paint to line the fields, and other soccer related expenses. Team managers may want to collect additional fees from each player to cover player uniforms, end of the year trophies, etc. How many teams are registered with the Shorewood Hills Soccer Club? There are 21 teams with over 200 players |

Must we live in the Village of Shorewood Hills to play with the Shorewood Hills Club? No. We also serve players who live in University Housing, Eagle Heights and surrounding areas. What other soccer clubs are there? There are about 40 soccer clubs in
Madison and the surrounding area. For a listing of those that serve
youth players visit the MAYSA web

What additional clothing or equipment will my child need? Every player must wear shin guards. Shin guards should be completely covered by the player's socks. Soccer cleats or turf shoes are preferable, but not mandatory. Cleats cannot be made of metal and cannot be square baseball style with a metal toe cleat. Each player should bring an appropriately sized ball and a full water bottle to practices and games.
Balls can be purchased locally at sporting goods stores, discount stores, and specialty shops or by direct mail or online merchants. |
